The government currently funds all schools in England to provide every child in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 with a hot, nutritious meal at lunch time. The aim is to improve academic attainment and save families money – over the course of a year the average family spends £437 on school lunches per child.

School Dinners

School dinners are served in the Large Hall. Children are supported and taught to be independent: making choices, carrying their own trays and using cutlery.

Packed Lunches

Children having school dinners or a packed lunch from home sit down to eat together as a class community.

Your child can choose between school dinners and packed lunches each day depending on their preference. Please be aware that Collingwood is a 'nut free' school and this applies to both school lunches and packed lunches from home. If you are booking a school dinner please read the information below.

School Dinner menus are published on a two weekly rota. They are emailed to you or you can find a copy on the website.

There is a choice of a hot meal, jacket potato or baguette every day. Please complete the form and return to the office by Monday to ensure your child gets their first choice. If we receive it after this date, your child will still get a meal however, it may not be what they have chosen.
